What does child accident insurance cover?
Child accident insurance is important for children under the age of 18, as accidents can happen both at school and during free time. Our child accident insurance covers your child 24 hours a day if a sudden incident leads to personal injury - whether it happens at home, at school, on the soccer field or at a leisure job. The insurance can also cover the cost of treatment with a physiotherapist and chiropractor in case of injury after an accident. The insurance can be customized with extra coverage to suit your needs. For example, you can choose extended coverage that provides financial support for critical illnesses.
The amount determines the amount of compensation if your child suffers a permanent disability of at least 5% as a result of an accident. Child accident insurance takes effect at a degree of disability from 5%. For example, a 15% permanent disability with a disability sum of DKK 1,000,000 will trigger a compensation of DKK 150,000.
Covers necessary and reasonable expenses for treatment and rehabilitation following a covered claim on the insurance by:
- Physiotherapist
- Chiropractor
- Reflexologist
- Acupuncturist
The insurance covers the treatments until the condition is considered stable by the physician, but no longer than until the degree of disability is determined, and never longer than one year after the date of the accident.
Covers necessary and reasonable dental expenses not covered by public school dental care. The insurance comes into effect if your child loses or damages a tooth as a result of a covered accident.
If treatment can only be carried out at a later age when your child no longer has access to school dental care, the insurance also covers these costs.
Pays double compensation if your child's permanent injury is determined to be 30% or higher.
For example:
40% permanent disability with a compensation sum of DKK 1,000,000 would give DKK 400,000 normally.
With double compensation, you get DKK 800,000 in compensation instead.
Punitive damages act as a financial support that is paid out in the event of an injury incident - as a quick relief in a difficult situation.
Your child can receive immediate compensation of DKK 15,000 if they have suffered a covered injury that includes:
- Bone fractures
- Total tear of the Achilles tendon or collateral ligament
- Partial or total tear of the cruciate ligament
Compensation is paid regardless of whether the child suffers permanent injury. Your child can only receive one immediate compensation payment per limb per year.
If your child suffers a critical illness or other illness mentioned in the conditions, an amount of DKK 100,000 is paid as financial support. If your child suffers an illness that causes permanent disability, compensation is paid for a degree of disability of at least 5% based on a sum insured of DKK 1,00000.
