What does a Dog Insurance cover?

Dog liability insurance covers your liability for compensation if your dog causes damage to other people, their property or animals.
The insurance also covers if your dog causes damage during training, competitions, exhibitions or similar events organised by clubs or associations (but not damage to extras or their equipment).
There is no excess on the statutory liability cover.
Dog health insurance is lifelong and covers if your dog becomes ill or injured. It covers reasonable and necessary expenses for examinations, treatments and medication of the insured dog in connection with illness or injury. There is a fixed deductible on the insurance, 15% of the vet bill.
You can choose between two different sums insured: DKK 20,000 per year or DKK 40,000 per year.
In addition, the dog insurance also covers the following:
- Dental treatment
- Rehabilitation, chiropractic and osteopathy
- Free online veterinarian. With dog health insurance, you get access to free online veterinary care via iVet.
Covers medication prescribed by the veterinarian for the dog after an injury or illness.
- Teeth are covered in connection with acute traumatic dental fracture of permanent teeth, but not dental crowns.
Dog life insurance can be purchased if you have taken out dog health insurance. It covers the following: Replacement of the sum insured for your dog in the event of death or euthanasia as a result of a covered illness or injury. Covers up to the selected sum insured if your dog dies as a result of an accident or illness. Dog insurance covers up to 50% of the sum insured if your dog is lost or stolen and not found within three months.
This cover is subject to amortisation.
- 8 years = 20% depreciation
- 9 years = 25% depreciation
- 10 years+ = 30% depreciation
The extended dog liability insurance covers your liability for injury to extras during training, competitions, exhibitions and similar events organised by a club or association. The insurance also applies if the injured party has contributed to the injury through their participation.
In addition, the extended insurance covers property damage to the dog sitter's property or animals, up to DKK 10,000, for up to 30 days if the dog is being looked after privately.
There are no deductibles on the extended liability cover.
